Demonstrators will gather at 12:30 PM at Newark Penn Station and will march to the Federal Building at Broad and Court streets for a rally at 1:30 PM. The demonstration is being called in response to the continuing US Government policy of unconstitutional and inhumane detention of immigrants. On any given day there are over 20,000 people in immigration custody. Muslims, Arabs, and South Asians are especially targeted. Some are detained indefinitely for years--not on criminal charges but in "administrative detention." This practice costs American taxpayers a staggering $545 million each year.
