While he wants to collect donation checks from rich supporters, we'd like to give him a different kind of a check - a "REALITY CHECK." We will symbolically present for the media, a jumbo-sized "REALITY CHECK" with the following written out: Pay to the order of: "President Bush" Reality: "Crackdown on immigrants + heightened fear = homeland insecurity" "No jobs for working families + tax breaks for the rich = failing economy" Memo: "Caused by Bush tax cuts and Bush/Ashcroft anti-immigrant policies post-9/11" Signed by: New York's working families Come join us and write out YOUR "reality check" and bring it to the rally. The "check" can describe the reality in your community and messages to let Bush know that he needs to stop taking away rights and resources that New York needs to ensure civil rights and economic justice for all New Yorkers. President Bush! **Your tax cuts for the rich and other economic policies have created harsh economic realities for working families. Rising unemployment rates, lack of job training opportunities, and cuts in critical services due to state and city budget cuts are hurting our economy. **Your anti-immigrant policies since 9/11 have resulted in the shameful loss of civil and due process rights for immigrants and others. Fear and alienation of entire communities undermine national security. **Take our "REALITY CHECKS" and stop taking away money, resources and rights of New Yorkers. New Yorkers demand that you start investing in working families of New York for a better future for us all! Governor Pataki and Mayor Bloomberg will also be at the fundraiser. They also need "REALITY CHECKS" because instead of standing up for the rights and fair treatment of New York's immigrants and working families, they have supported or cooperated in implementing policies that have hurt New Yorkers.
